The Wo International Center sponsored 23 Punahou teachers and administrators to travel to Mexico and Costa Rica during the summer of 2007 to study ecology, sustainability, and agriculture. Teachers created lessons for their students based on what they learned. One expression of what was learned was a showing of artwork and tropical plants in Punahou's Kirsch Gallery. Here are three pieces of artwork students created which are their interpretation of Costa Rican animals.
Seventh grader AL drew his interpretation of the Costa Rican white ibis.
Eighth grade JB created a bird sculpture out of papier mache and acrylic paint.

Seventh grader LT created an interpretation of the black and green dart frog out of clay.
