    First Day In Senegal

I have finally arrived after a very long and uncomfortable plane ride with a predominantly African passenger group. It appears that Delta used its most deteriorated plane that is ready for retirement. It reminded me of the Moroccan Souk buses with passengers bringing as much as they can with no where to stuff anything. We arrived at 4:15 am, an hour through passport check. We are haggled with young Senegalese men trying to help us with our bags and our leader telling us don't accept any help. They load our belongings on top of a bus and we pile within.

As we drive along the highway, the area reminds me of the countryside of Morocco with stucco homes, some abandoned cars and buses, people walking to work so early in the morning. Our hotel is in an area with trees. A very small room overlooking a construction of another hotel. I have not ventured out as yet since I went to sleep immediately. After taking the malaria pill I am ready for another nap.

I just wanted to let you know that I am safe and have arrived. This will be an adventure.
