Flat Stanley for 1st Graders

Last month I visited my neice, a school teacher in Benicia, California. During my stay, her daughter (a first grader) asked me to participate in her "Flat Stanley" project. Her teacher had read the story of Flat Stanley, a child's tale about a boy who makes himself flat and asks his parents to mail him different places. After making their own little "Flat Stanley" the students in her class were asked to mail him to a relative or friend. In my case - Flat Stanley simply slipped into my suticase! He also came with a cute little journal in which to record his adventures.

But it got me thinking - in addition to writing in the journal - Why not make this a digital experience? So, I created a Flat Stanley website to record his adventures in Hawaii. Flat Stanley even blogs a bit about what he is seeing. In addition, I've used my iphone to email pics to my neice. I've enjoyed this project and looking at Hawaii through the eyes of Flat Stanley.
